Fisherman's Plantsoen The Hague

Extension of Fischerplantsoen The Hague

For a house on Fischerplantsoen, Architectenbureau Cladder designed an extension that echoes the curve of the street-facing facade, combined with a pitched roof. These requirements presented considerable challenges. The detailing constantly required us to consider details elsewhere. A rewarding and challenging project. Grass covers both the pitched and flat roofs, providing additional insulation that ensures manageable heating costs and increased comfort. Glass bricks provide a screen between the seating area and the rear entrance. When someone enters, you're not immediately exposed to the cold, yet you can still see who's entering. The glass facade offers a wide view of the beautiful garden and provides abundant natural light. A true pleasure to live in.

Challenge

The challenge in designing the extension to this house was to create a round extension, similar to the one in the front facade, in combination with a sloping roof.

Value

The sloping roof provides plenty of light and space.
